Over the weekend, I reported that Five Night's at Freddy's creator Scott Cawthon was sorry for putting FNaF World out too early with quite a lot of issues and missing features. He promised the game would be fixed soon, and that fixes were coming.
Well, the situation has developed somewhat now, as Cawthon has taken the RPG off Steam, and on top of that is going to be offering it for free when it returns. He is also working with Valve to offer refunds to everyone who bought the game. Speaking on the game's Steam page, Cawthon said:
Hi everyone, I wanted to make a post about the fate of FNaF World. Even though the game had a 'Very Positive' rating with 87%, I was not satisfied with the reviews and ratings it was getting.
FNaF World is an indie role-playing video game created by Scott Cawthon.It is the first official spin-off to the Five Nights at Freddy's series. The game was released for Microsoft Windows on January 21, 2016 and Android on January 12, 2017, but came with unfinished gameplay and a large amount of bugs, leading to bad reception and ultimately the decision for the game's removal from digital. Five Nights At Freddy’s The Return is a Five Nights at Freddy’s fan game in which you will be able to experience lots of horrific events which used to occur after FNAF 2 and yet before FNAF 1. For that reason, I've decided to remove the game from Steam. I've also asked Valve to make it so that the game can be refunded regardless of the amount of the time it has been owned, meaning that anyone can get a refund at any time. It may take them a while to set that up, but it will be in place soon.
I'm still going to work on FNaF World and polish it up. I'm busy creating a fully 3D overworld for the game. When I'm ready to update the game, I will replace the demo currently on GameJolt with the full game. From this point forward, the game will always be free.
I appreciate your support, and I encourage you all to refund your Steam game (even if you enjoyed the game), and download the new version when it becomes available on GameJolt.
